In what ways did Twitter help people in Christchurch?

Twitter has allowed people all around the world to communicate with Cantabrians. People are able to announce/tweet locations where water is being given out and suddenly lots of people will arrive minutes later. 

e.g

 Twitter has been used during the Christchurch earthquake for many reasons an example being people tweeting to the who world that they are in need of help, perhaps being stuck under rubble which may be the last thing someone says. Here as an example of someone tweeting to try and find their friends or family “ShotbyRobins: Need to locate Emma Johnston and Shen Yi Luan, please RT #eqnz” A search tool which is useful is the # key it announces a group immediately which is a quick fast tool for searching a specific group or topic. 

Twitter can be used in many different scenarios an example being Help,News,photos,videos,news

TOOLS: It searches for lost people an example being what the residents of Christchurch are currently doing to try and find family members or friends.

When comparing Twitter to Facebook, Twitter doesn't need as many personal details from you where as Facebook allows the public to go and see your date of birth or your full name where as twitter allows you to choose your username and you don't have to have your name displayed.
